A New Class of Luxury Emerges

On the Rise and Rise of ‘Branded’ Residences (Spears Wealth Management)

Branded residences continue to attract substantial interest and press coverage around the globe; I was pleased to chat recently about this sector with property writer Catherine Moye (see link to her article below).

There is little sign of this interest abating, as further evidenced by Marriott’s recent announcement that it plans to expand its branded residences by 70% by 2022. As highlighted in my report “Branded Residences: An Overview”, there are still some vast untapped global markets, notably South America and Africa, where significant growth is also predicted.

Chris Graham joined a distinguished panel of speakers at the well attended Filipovic conference, held at the Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb.  Discussing “Residential Development and Branded Residential Trends in the Adriatic” were (from L to R) Una Baric (Artelior), Muriel Muirden (EVP & MD Strategy at WATG), Chris Graham (MD Graham Associates), Jelena Cvjetkovic (Savills International Residential), Kieran Kelleher (Dream Estates Montenegro & Croatia/Savills Associate) and moderator Riyan Itani (Head of International Development Consultancy at Savills).

Clearly there is considerable interest in the subject as the hall was fully seated, with standing room only at the back!

The Pride of Sri Lanka

A good start to the year as Graham Associates is appointed global marketing partner for ITC’s amazing new private residences in Sri Lanka, appropriately named Colombo One, which was unveiled this week in Delhi.

A 50-story luxury residential tower and a 29-story hotel tower connected by a two-story sky bridge, the development includes a four-story shared podium that will offer a lobby and visitor drop-off area, conference centre, retail space, amenities and underground parking for over 1,000 vehicles.

A world-class team was assembled to create this distinctive landmark building – architecture by Gensler, interiors by YOO Inspired by Starck, structural design by Thornton Tomasetti and sales by Sotheby’s.

Colombo One is set to raise the bar above other luxury developments previously seen in the Indian Ocean region.
